2017, OMG! Happy New year! I love the winter and I convinced Mr. and Mrs. Barr that we all needed to get away over the Holidays and so we headed to Muskoka.  The Sherwood Inn on Lake Joseph is where we landed. Once there, we played in the snow, goofed off, binged on Homeland and ate really well.

Having some time off, Mrs Barr was trying organize some files and photos and she found this baby picture of moi so, I thought I would share it with loyal followers.  Although I was cute as a button back then, I was (apparently) more irritating than a rash!!!  I am not sure I believe that but, that’s what I am told.

With the New Year comes lots of new stuff at the studio. The amazing Sarah T is teaching a Cardio Pilates class on Wednesdays at 6:05pm. Get your heart pumping and a sweat on, intertwined with the same precision Pilates you know and love!

I also heard something about Reformer classes starting soon.  The Pilates Reformer is legendary and classes will be offered to small groups of 3 participants only. To check these classes out, get in touch with Mr. or Mrs. Barr about signing up for a free demo on Jan 22 or 29th. The feeling you get from working out on the Reformer (I have been on one with Mrs Barr) can not be explained. You need to try it out for yourself…you’ll see.

Sundays are special so, we have come up with a special just for Sundays. Double Down Sundays are here. Take advantage of a double class, 1hour of Pilates followed by a 1 hour and 15 minutes of Ivengar Yoga for one amazing price!  $35.00 including taxes gets you both classes. This amazing deal is good for those that have an existing class package and for those that don’t. The Double Down Sunday Special will be available every Sunday and until and including Sunday April 9th.

Julie Michels is my favorite singer (and my Auntie) and she is coming to our neighbourhood for a gig at the Kingston Social House on Feb. 11th. If you haven’t already heard Julie sing at one of The Pilates Barr events, you are really missing something special. She has an amazing voice and is an impeccable talent, accompanied by the incomparable Kevin Barrett on guitar, it gonna be great!  Come out and join her for an evening of Jazz and song and amazing eats and support our local businesses!. Gotta sign off now, the gang is waiting for me. We’re off for our daily run and romp with Angela (Pawz n’ Biscuits)…she’s the best!  Over and out…

what people are saying..

  • The best place for quality instructors. Great one on one instruction and group classes are very enjoyable too. One of the best places I have found for good pilaties classes.

    Christina B.,
  • Thank you to the excellent Teachers at The Pilates Barr. My chiropractor recommended Pilates to me as a sound method of strengthening my body. I can say it works! I have never felt better and stronger since I joined the Pilates Barr. The teachers are so professional and the classes are conducted with the care and learning and safety of students. I feel totally confident learning this method and without fear of injuring myself. It’s a fun learning environment.

    Deborah W.,
  • The Pilates Barr is a cool place to spend a few hours a week. My twice weekly sessions help develop core strength and improve balance and all those good things. But that time also gives me space to step away briefly from the concerns of ordinary life in a calm and supportive environment — and that is equally important to me. Lisa, garden designer.
